Dr.听Gifford听is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and Sociology. Her research focuses on the global processes involved in transnational migration, lived migrant experiences, and global hierarchies of social class, gender, race, and sexual identities. Her research has focused on Southeast Asia, primarily transnational migration trends from the Philippines. Dr.听Gifford听teaches with a social activist and civic engagement focus, teaching topics such as Global and Contemporary Social Problems, Globalization, Race, Gender, Sexuality, Human Trafficking, and Victimology. She takes her teaching beyond the classroom as she works on human trafficking education and policy reform within the community and directs the SAINT Intel Project on human trafficking housed in the 好色先生TV Center for Intelligence Research Analysis and Training. She has attended and presented at multiple sociology conferences, served on the Social Action Committee for the Midwest Sociological Society and as a research mentor for the Illinois Science and Technology Institute. Dr.听Gifford听is passionate about working with students to extend their educational experiences into community work and does this through the SAINT Project and integrating student participation into her current research into human trafficking in Pennsylvania.
